About Writing:
A new poetry
Challenge came to my email
From my writing friend
Who constantly tests my skills
With new plans and ways to write.
I've missed you my friend.
Sparring with words between us,
Tossing ideas about stuff,
From one email to the next,
And stories abound from fun.
Alas, time is spent
Feeding and watering stock,
Sweeping dusty floors,
Building fires to keep house warm;
Stops my friend; interrupts muse.
So, I sit and play
With words to entice the flow
Of words and phrases
Of adventure, drama, love
And stories dying escape.
Stories wait to share;
I yearn for a well told tale.
Life gets in the way
Of my favorite author's
Creative muse, and it's sad.
About Work:
Break is over soon;
I must return to posting.
It is easy work,
But I am bored with this job.
It no longer tests my skills.
Fun times had by all
Posting charges to accounts.
Life saving, costly
Surgeries and procedures
Hearts, lungs, ears, eyes, neuro, and ortho.
About Lies:
We deserve each other.
Lies, half truths; innuendos.
We skirt around things
And in the end we only hurt.
The lies can't fix the sad truth.
About Firefighters:
Early morning call;
Sleepy firefighters crawl out
Of warm beds into
Turnouts and heavy boots; run
To fight the trouble ahead.
He woke up foggy
In a red truck; keys in hand
What the hell happened?
Who was he; why was he here?
Did he steal it? Should he run?
He reached for the door,
Grunting from the pain it brought;
He let the keys drop.
His left hand reached for the door.
The movement causing more pain.
About Weather:
Rain, so wet, fifty six.
Is it winter or spring now?
Memphis weather, ugh!
No wonder everyone's sick.
Probably snow tomorrow!
Pretty snow, snow cream.
I dream of days long ago.
Deep snow for snow cream.
But alas, not in Memphis.
One inch maybe two; no cream.
